The Lennon James Story

Lennon James carries our son's name, so this business has always been personal to us. Built from experience, inspired by family and founded on one simple belief: your property is personal to you, so everything we do, should feel personal too.

I wanted to create something special

When I created Lennon James Property, I wanted to build something that meant more to me than simply starting another estate agency. The business takes its name from our first born son, Lennon-James, who was born in 2016. Becoming a father changed my perspective on life and the future. It made me think differently about what I wanted to build with my partner, Victoria, and the kind of legacy I wanted to create for our family.

I wanted to create something special. Something with meaning behind it. Something that, as Lennon grew older, he could look at and feel proud to have his name above the door. And perhaps that is why, from the very beginning, Lennon James has always felt personal. Because it is.

My career in property began long before Lennon James. I started in estate agency before joining Rightmove in 2006, eventually becoming part of its senior management team and spending more than a decade working alongside estate agents and major housebuilders across the UK.

Technology can help you understand people. It can never replace caring about them.

It gave me an extraordinary perspective on an industry going through one of the biggest transformations in its history.

Newspaper advertising was disappearing. Property portals were becoming the starting point for almost every move. The way people searched for homes was changing rapidly, and for the first time, data was giving us a much clearer understanding of what made buyers notice a property, engage with it and ultimately make an enquiry.

But the longer I worked within the industry, the more convinced I became of something else.

Technology can help you understand people. It can never replace caring about them.

After more than 12 years at Rightmove, that belief became part of the foundation for Lennon James. I wanted to take everything I had learned about property marketing, technology, buyer behaviour and data and combine it with something far more human: people who genuinely care about the outcome. Because when you're selling a property, it isn't simply another listing appearing on a screen. It's your home.

It may be where you've raised your family. It might represent years of hard work. It could be your first home, your forever home, an investment, an inheritance or the place you thought you'd never leave. Whatever the circumstances, there is a story behind every front door. And that's why we don't believe your property should ever be treated as just another instruction.

Your property is personal to you. So our approach should be personal to it.

That simple idea influences almost everything we do at Lennon James. We don't believe in putting properties through a process. We believe in building a strategy around the property and the person selling it. Because no two homes are exactly the same, and neither are the people who will eventually buy them.

Some properties need to reach families moving out of London. Others need incredibly focused local marketing. For one home, the architecture might do the talking. For another, it could be the garden, the school catchment, the village, the commute, the lifestyle or the development potential.

And sometimes, the thing that will ultimately make somebody fall in love with a home isn't immediately obvious from a floorplan or a list of room dimensions. Our job is to find it. Before we decide how to market a property, we want to understand what makes it different.

Who is most likely to buy it? Where might that person currently live? What are they searching for? What would make them stop scrolling and take notice? And, crucially, how do we make sure they see it?

Those questions influence everything that follows, from the photography, video and words we use to present your home, through to where we advertise it, how we use social media and how we position it in the market.

There isn't a standard Lennon James marketing plan because there isn't a standard Lennon James property. There is simply your home, your circumstances and the strategy we believe gives you the best possible opportunity to achieve the right result.

Estate agency has changed enormously since I first entered the industry, and it will continue to change

The technology will become smarter. The data will become more sophisticated. The platforms people use to discover property will evolve. We'll embrace all of it.

But there are some things I never want Lennon James to lose. The care we put into presenting someone's home. The time we take to understand why somebody is moving. The phone call when there isn't necessarily anything new to report. The attention to detail when nobody else would notice. The willingness to go further because we know how much the outcome matters to the person who has trusted us. Because behind every valuation, viewing, negotiation and set of keys are people making one of the biggest financial and emotional decisions of their lives.

That deserves to feel personal. I started Lennon James because I wanted to create an estate agency my family could be proud of and an agency people would be proud to use. Today, that still influences the standards we set for ourselves and the way we look after every person who chooses to put their home and their trust in our hands.
