St Neots is a charming riverside market town of Saxon origin. The town was an important paper-making centre during the 19th Century with the first machine made paper made here in 1798. Some of the original mill buildings can still be seen by the river.
The core of the town centres around a broad and spacious market place; one of the largest in England. A traditional market has been held here weekly since 1135 offering a selection of goods including locally produced foods. Many characterful 17th and 18th Century properties can found lining the square and in the narrow streets leading off it.
